Puppy Policy
Pups are Top Priority at IBIZA. They are all raised indoors within a healthy and harmonious home environment, including other dogs and our cat.
At four weeks, they are initially weaned on what I believe to be the best available Puppy food and are fed 5-6 times a day. Their whelping box and pens are maintained in a warm, clean and safe manner with constant attention and stimuli available.
Daily training and socialising ensures a well maintained and happy pup and they are excercised several times daily. Basic training and retrieval skills are enforced but potential owners will need to have experience with having kept young dogs and will need to display an ability to properly raise a sighthound.
I anticipate that because of my respect and love of dogs, my new puppy owners will do the same.
My basic expectations of new owners are that you:
- will provide a permanent, stable, loving home for your Ibiza Whippet.
- will give regular vaccinations, worming, heartworm, flea & tick protection.
- have a fully fenced, ‘puppy-proofed’ and safe yard for your whippet to play in.
- will seek quality vet care whenever necessary and can afford these services.
- will neuter your companion pet (not before 12 mths, but by 18 mths of age).
- provide appropriate shelter & warm bedding if the dog is mainly kept outside.
- will join DOGS Vic or relevant state body if purchasing a potential Show puppy.
- keep the dog active & happy allowing it in your home (at least some of the time).
- keep in touch (at least once a year) to let me know how your dog is doing.
- never hesitate to ask my opinion/advice with anything regarding your whippet.
