Our famous solid Black stud dog bred by Gian Zovi & Co-Owned with Patrick Estalote was born 1st January 2002. ‘Gabbo’ is a remarkably affectionate, yet very outgoing whippet who has been our primary solid Black show and stud dog. His wonderful breeding is reflected in this beautiful whippet.
Gabbo’s early show wins include placing 2nd Puppy Dog (from 8 entries) at The Victorian Whippet Association Specialty 2002, under the internationally renowned Whippet breeder & Breed Specialist judge, Mrs June Minns of the famous ‘JUNERIC’ kennels in the UK. Gabbo placed equal 4th on the Victorian Whippet Club’s Point Score 2003 (from 32 Pups).
He’s been campaigned throughout Australia attaining several wins including “Best Minor Puppy in Group”, at the Sale-Maffra Champion Show 2002, under judge Mrs Val Morrow (NSW). Gabbo won “Best Opposite Junior in Show” at the Whippet Club of NSW Specialty 2003, under Whippet Specialist judge and renowned sighthound breeder, Ms Molly Rule-Steele of ‘Taejaan’ kennels.
Memorable to many local Whippet enthusiasts was him taking 2nd Intermediate Dog at the Royal Melbourne Show 2003, under Hound Specialist judge Mr Desmond Murphy (USA); a very rare achievement for a solid Black amongst strong competition.
At Australia’s 1st National Whippet Specialty Show held in September 2004, Gabbo placed 3rd Intermediate Dog (to our solid Blue ‘Monte’ who took 2nd!) in a very strong class (among several Champions, Imports and even a Grand Champion!) under breed specialist Mr Magnus Hagstedt of ‘Signum’ Whippets, Sweden. Mr Hagstedt’s critique states “Curvy with excellent depth”.
