Aust CH Canawindra Dubl Date (GSP)
‘Edge’ is our wonderful German Shorthair Pointer (GSP), bred by Mal & Faye Park and co-owned with Robyn Raven. He was born 31st of August 2006 and was a playful and adventurous pup who we were very proud to have join us here. My family had a black GSP when I was growing up as a child and it’s one of the very few other breeds I would have, so when Robyn mentioned the opportunity for a pup from these leading breeders, we welcomed the chance to take on such a stunning young boy.
Edge’s sire is by a leading American Champion import and Australian Grand Champion, with his dam having several generations of this GSP kennel’s breeding. We are looking forward to his show career and Robyn will be exhibiting him extensively. Edge has been very successful in the ring and always aims to please. Apart from being a favourite with the junior handlers, he always gives 100% and is a pleasure to own and show.

Edge gained his title at the tender age of 19 months at the Ovens Valley Kennel Club Show under Mrs Stephanie Rickard (Gundog specialist), handled to perfection by his breeder Mal Park. In only THREE weeks of showing, Edge picked up 53 points!! with FIVE “Best of Breeds”, THREE of those being at the prestigious Easter circuit at Melbourne’s Canine Headquarters at KCC Park. Edge has also won numerous Champion in Show awards at Members Competitions, “edging” out Multiple Best in Show winners!
One of the highlights of his showing career was a massive 21 point best of breed at the prestigious Frankston and Peninsula Kennel Club, judged by gundog specialist Mrs T Brown from Canada. He was pulled out in the final SIX dogs for ‘Best exhibit in Group’, being the youngest at only 22 months old, whilst the rest of the line up were all over 3 years old.
At the Melbourne Royal Show, he was placed 1st in the Junior Class 2007, then 3rd in Intermediate Dog in 2008 and at the German Shorthaired Pointer National Show judged by Mr L Hearn, Edge was awarded 2nd Place in ‘Best Gaited Dog’, once again, beating multiple “Best in Show” winning and top interstate competition.
The critique from his class reads: Masculine dog of squarish build. Very nice head in profile. Nice expression. Excellent top-line, very good underline. Very developed ribcage. Good front chest. Very good bone. Well laid shoulders, a bit short in overarm. Falling a bit short in croup and a bit narrow in thigh. Moves with good stride in front and a bit short in back. A bit narrow in hock. Very good coat. Excellent temperament – Judge: Ms Raija Tammelin (Finland)
Edge has a temperament that converts people that are scared or don’t like dogs to GSP lovers, and wins hearts of those that know the dog behind the show lead.Pedigree
